THE PENICILLIN COCKTAIL

Today I'm making the Penicillin, a modern classic cocktail invented by Sam Ross while he was at Milk & Honey. 

It's a fantastic cocktail and frequently requested by the audience here, and it's also a rare opportunity to mix with some Scotch. 

A few things you might want to know if you don't already- Milk & Honey was maybe the epicenter of the cocktail revival of the early 2000's, really kicked off the "speakeasy" thing, and Sam Ross is a legend, so this drink has some serious pedigree. 

INGREDIENTS

5 oz. -or- 15 ml. honey syrup .

5 oz. -or- 15 ml. ginger syrup .

7,5 oz. -or- 22 ml. lemon juice 

2 oz. -or- 60 ml. blended Scotch 

-Shake & Strain 

-Float a peaty Islay Scotch over the top 

-Garnish with Candy Ginger

IT'S PREPARED IN THE SHAKER.

Ingredients:

- 4 or 5 Ice Cubes.

- 1/4 Dry Gin.

- 1/4 Melon Liqueur.

- 2/4 Tropical Fruit Juice.


IT'S MUST BE SERVED IN COCKTAIL GLASS, WITHOUT GARNISH.

CAIPIROSKA COCKTAIL

CAIPIROSKA COCKTAIL

Caipiroska is the name of an alcoholic beverage prepared with vodka, lime juice, and sugar.
Its name derived from the traditional caipirinha, from which it is only distinguished by the replacement of cachaça by vodka. It is served with crushed ice, and it is drunk with a straw. A variety of Caipiroska is the Strawberry Caipiroska.

 INGREDIENTS
 - CRUSHED ICE . (4 or 5 PEAKED ICE CUBES)
 - 1/3 VODKA.
 - 2/3 LIMA JUICE.
 - 1 NATURAL GREEN LIMA.
 - SUGAR.

PREPARATION: 

ITS PREPARED IN MIXED GLASS.

A GREEN LIME, without peeling it, is cut into medium-sized pieces, and introduced into the glass, squeezing it slightly. Then, one or two tablespoons of white sugar are added.

We cast, VODKA and LIMA JUICE. Shake well.

 Finally the CRUSHED ICE is added, a straw is placed, and decorated with a slice of green lime on the edge of the glass.

SCREWDRIVER COCKTAIL

Ingredients:

- Ice Cubes.
- 1'5 oz of Vodka .
- 4'5oz of Fresh Orange Juice.

Preparation: (Straight up)

Mix in a highball glass with ice. Garnish and serve.

Served: On the rocks; poured over ice

Standard garnish: Orange slice

Drinkware: Highball glass


*What is a Straight up cocktail?
For a drink made without ice or mixer, you'd order it “neat,” and it would be served to you in an Old Fashioned cocktail glass. So, you might say, “I'd like a bourbon, neat.” To order a martini “up” or “straight up,” means you'd like it chilled. A cocktail that is poured over ice is “on the rocks.”

Ingredients: 

- Ice cubes

- 2/3 oz (4 parts) Lemon or Lime juice.

- 1/6 oz (1 part) Grenadine syrup.

- 1 1/2 oz (9 parts) Bacardi white rum.

Preparation: (SHAKER)

Shake together in a mixer with ice. Strain into glass and serve. 

Served: Straight up

Standard garnish: Lime

Drinkware: Cocktail glass

ALEXANDER COCKTAIL

ALEXANDER COCKTAIL 

Ingredients: 

-Ice cubes. 
-1/3 of Cocoa Cream. 
-1/3 of Liquid Cream. 
-1/3 of Brandy.

Preparation: (SHAKER)

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain contents into a cocktail glass. Sprinkle nutmeg on top and serve.

Served: Straight up; without ice

Standard garnish: Nutmeg

Drinkware: Cocktail glass

If you prefer Gin, you can change in this recipe, Gin instead Brandy. In that case the cocktail is named ALEXANDRA.
